To be clear, the best way to have s'mores will always be when you can cook the marshmallows over the red-hot coals of a campfire, slowly rotating until each one is a perfectly even golden brown.
But when you live in suburbia, opportunities for campfires can be few and far between.
Enter: the suburban s'more fanatic's dream
One of Alex's birthday presents was a s'mores grilling kit from Sur la Table, and one night we broke it out for an experiment!
The marshmallows go on the spits.
The whole contraption sits on the grill.
Once the marshmallows appear to be almost cooked, set grahams and chocolate bars on upper plate to begin melting.
Mush into a s'more!
Yum.
Verdict:
Well, like I said, nothing quite beats the campfire s'more. And at least on our grill, the marshmallows didn't get golden brown. They just melted so much that we had to take them off the spit for fear they would fall onto the grill.
That said, they were still ooey, gooey, chocolately deliciousness and a great way to celebrate the impending arrival of summer!
We may have to have a go at this when you are back in MI!
